For wheyco fields of action are the reduction of power consumption and optimization of reclamation of water and power.
The milk processed at the cheese factory in Altentreptow is from 100% GMO free fed cows.
We are constantly working on the reduction of our ecological footprint. Our locations focus on environmental compliance and continuous improvement. An example is the investment of about 8 million euro in recovery systems at our plant at Altentreptow which was undertaken in 2013 and implemented until 2018. The project led to a reduction in CO2 emissions, fresh water consumption, effluent water balance and power consumption.
Refining whey does not only maximize value creation but also enables nutritional advantages for humans and animals.
The resource whey is utilized to result in a minimum amount of exploitation within the processing at wheyco.
Currently our environmental goals are further reduction of water usage and to further decrease the current power consumption.
Our two productions sites in Hoogeveen and in Altentreptow both have a strong individual focus on sustainability. Hoogeveen specifically committed itself to follow the guideline for corporate social responsibility set out by DIN ISO 26000:2010. With this wheyco NL underpins its strive for "profit, people & planet" being in balance through the production of better products to promote better health, with a better ecological footprint and better value propositions.
Besides a number of general measures specific focus is made on energy savings, contribution to an efficient and sustainable value chain, health and safety.
